Kathy Sung – Director

Blue Sky CIC was inspired by my daughter, Sky Blue – a reminder that there is always blue sky after every storm.

For over a decade, my daughter and I have volunteered together, beginning when she was just four years old, by preparing food for those experiencing homelessness. Giving back has always been part of who we are.

Professionally, I spent the first 7 years of my career in the fashion and film industries, followed by 14 years in C-suite business operations. I hold a business degree and an extensive background in e-commerce – an experience I now use to drive social change.

In 2024, I formally established Blue Sky CIC to empower lone parents. Through our programmes, we help parents navigate challenges, rebuild confidence, and create stable futures for their families, ensuring they become role models for the next generation.

My focus is now on supporting parents with business planning – turning their ideas into reality – and collaborating with employers to create sustainable job opportunities. Together, we are building a network that connects parents with the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

Kate Tilston – Practical Life Coach

Kate Tilston is The Practical Life Coach, providing honest, supportive coaching for people navigating the realities of everyday life. With almost 20 years’ coaching experience, she helps people who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck or simply trying to juggle too many things at once.

Kate specialises in breaking problems down into manageable steps and helping people find practical solutions that fit their lives, rather than adding more pressure or unrealistic expectations.

Her coaching style is warm, down-to-earth and non-judgemental, giving people the space to talk things through, regain perspective and move forward with greater confidence and clarity.

Kate believes that when we support parents, we support children too. She is proud to support BlueSky CIC’s mission of helping single-parent families build confidence, stability and hope for the future.

Udaatta Pemmasani – Director

Udaatta started her career as an IT professional and lived in Malaysia for eight years before relocating to the UK. She earned an MSc in Psychology from the University of Essex in December 2022.

In October 2022, she founded a dance community in Colchester, celebrating diverse Indian culture across various platforms in Essex. Since 2023, Udaataa has been actively volunteering in well-being roles across various charities while working as a life coach.

Udaatta is currently offering both one-on-one and group coaching sessions at Blue Sky.

Faye Rathe – Community Lead (Tendring)

Faye is a creative practitioner and a proud lone parent of two. She previously led creative writing sessions and successfully built a thriving writing community by founding and facilitating Tendring Community Writers, hosting workshops, meet-ups, and spoken word events.

As our Community Lead for Tendring, Faye supports lone parents across the area while also leading our children’s creative sessions in both Colchester and Tendring.

Faye serves as a powerful role model and advocate, inspiring others in our community to step forward, recognise their own strengths, and pursue their goals with confidence. Through her creativity, lived experience, and passion for supporting others, she helps create safe and welcoming spaces where both parents and children can thrive.

Sky Blue – Volunteer

Sky is the inspiration behind BlueSky CIC.

From helping at community events and activities to supporting behind the scenes, Sky has been incredibly involved. Whether it’s carrying donations, helping set up tables, welcoming families, assisting at community meals, or simply bringing a smile to others, she is always happy to lend a hand.

When Sky was just four years old, she said something that has stayed with me ever since:

“Thank you, Mummy, for bringing me into this beautiful world where I can experience all the beautiful things.”

Those words became a reminder that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the beauty, kindness, and possibilities that life has to offer. They continue to inspire the work we do at BlueSky CIC today.

Sky’s kindness, optimism, and willingness to help others remind us why supporting families and creating positive opportunities for children is so important.

Claire Osborne – Volunteer

Community spirit is an integral aspect of my identity. I derive immense joy from fostering connections with others, listening to their unique stories, and providing support in any way I can. My philanthropic nature compels me to seize opportunities to contribute to larger endeavours that are bigger than myself.

Raising a child requires a collective effort, yet I lacked the support system during my childhood. Raised single-handedly by my mother, I belong to a single-parent family. I am acutely aware of the challenges, difficulties, isolation, and loneliness that accompany this dynamic.

Concurrently, I am passionate about challenging the stereotypes and stigmas associated with single-parent families. With my mother’s unwavering support, I have overcome obstacles, nurtured my dreams, and achieved my goals. No single-parent family should endure hardships alone. I firmly believe that supporting both parents and children is the key to unlocking their full potential, well-being, and individual strengths. By establishing a collaborative community network specifically designed to provide support to all single-parent families, we empower them to regain control, stability, and new opportunities for their future.

I deeply regret not having access to such support during my youth. Consequently, I am committed to supporting Blue Sky as one of the directors. This allows me to contribute my input, insights, and fresh perspectives—gained from my background in the arts, philanthropy, community activism, and my lived experiences—to this Community Interest Company (CIC), the future, and beyond.
